Phil’s Fitness Diary 03rd June 2019

It has been a while since I have done this blog so I thought I would give you an update.

I have been trying to get some consistency in my training and still find it hard to manage my foot and the rest of the body. Bits still insist on trying to fall off.

Still playing around with diets and supplements and all seems ok. Need to cut down on certain food types and lose a few kilograms but hopefully, the summer will help this with more salad style meals.

Training now consists of gym sessions and running. The gym is mostly static bike and concept 2 rowing and the last few weeks I have been trying harder on the rowing and have now completed 6K in under 30 minutes

Park runs have continued but not at a consistent rate due to an achillies problem. I wasn’t sure if I should be proud of this because it means I have been running enough to get injured 😊. Whereas in the past this slight strain caused by my adapting running style would have gone in a few days it took three weeks to buzz off. This is the annoying part of getting older.

Whilst most of you were running or watching the London Marathon I was lucky enough to go to the Hamburg Marathon for “Work”. This also meant I had to take part in the Relay section in which teams of four runners complete the course, all running one leg each of uneven distances. I got the 5.4K leg. I found it very nerve-racking and exhilarating at the same time putting a race number on again after all these years and having large crowds shouting encouragement( I am assuming it was an encouragement as it was mostly in German. I completed my leg in a reasonable time and didn’t damage anything so that’s an improvement.

I have done a few more Park Runs and I have found that my times seem to have reached a plateau. When I try and go a bit faster I seem to suffer in the last 1K. This has shown me I need to find a way to train more constantly and if possible do a little more running. This is fine apart from my body seems to disagree with this course of action. Patience and consistency seem to be the key but I don’t really do either of those two things very well.

Have rejoined the running club so better try and get fit and maybe one day run for the club again(I know pigs might fly 😊)

With the help from my work colleagues on all thing eating, drinking and training hopefully I will get there eventually

You can check out my training on Strave.com if you get really bored.

Until the next time keep healthy and fit but not in front of me 😊

Oh No It’s real
