Its been far too long for the next exciting episode of Phil versus the marathon. My running hasn’t been going very well and aches and pains that used to take just days and maybe a week to go away now take months. This is one of the biggest things I have had to come to terms with on this journey. I have found out my running style of 30 years plus needs to change to stop this injury cycle I am currently in. I have become a gym bunny and am doing more general fitness work than running. Although not as good as running outside it is keeping me going. I have also managed to lose a little weight and hope to shift another couple of kg to help the cause. Gary Telfer Monday fitness circuits is also helping but don’t tell Gary that 😊. A marathon this year is no longer on the table and I think it will have to hold on until I can comfortably run 10k and above but I have put my name in the hat for next years VLM but the chances of getting a ballot place is as good as England winning the world cup. Also, I was supposed to do a tandem skydive on 17th June but it got cancelled due to the weather so I need to rearrange it. Watch this space. Midlife crisis a bit late 😊.
So, in conclusion, I’m still alive but bits keep dropping off but I haven’t given up and hopefully, you will see me on the start line in the not too distant future.
Phil
Consistency in your training will be the key, little and often and we will have you down at a parkrun before too long! Plus a nice pair of Paradigm’s to complete the program!! 😂 Well done mate 👍
